BBC Media Action uses various forms of media and communications to tackle poverty and contribute to long-term change around the world. To achieve this, we partner with civil society, local media and governments to produce creative programmes which inform and engage audiences around key development issues and to strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity.
BBC Media Action is delivering an exciting and challenging new TV and online programme with support from the Joint Peace Fund. The project will create a national online and television platform that increases public understanding of support for a sustainable, inclusive peace for Myanmar. Sensitive to Myanmar’s ongoing peace process and decades of civil conflict, this content will inform and engage audiences across Myanmar, amplifying the voices of those affected by conflict and building understanding of how the country’s long-running conflicts impact on political stability and development nationwide.
OF THE ROLE
The Digital Producer will work on digital video production for the peace project, across multiple formats and platforms. S/he will need to be accomplished in making digital content and demonstrate a high quality of multi skills including video editing and photography.
You will be expected to travel. As this is a new team role, we are seeking people with imagination, energy, a positive ‘can do’ attitude, practical programme making skills, and the gift for delivering outstanding products. Myanmar Pyaw Ba will produce 24 documentary and discussion episodes for broadcast and digital distribution to inform about peace in Myanmar, with increased knowledge of peace process and a better understand of how conflict affects the lives of others.
• Produce, shoot, edit and deliver original digital content that seek to help audiences get the information about ongoing peace, in Myanmar. • Posting content and help manage Facebook and other social media pages of Myanmar Pywa Ba. • Work closely with Digital Manager and production team to generate ideas, plan production, production and post production. • Interview contributor for the production. • Adhere to BBC Editorial Guidelines and the observance of BBC’s Health and Safety Regulations. • Perform other related production duties as requested by Line Manager and Series Producer.
Required skills, knowledge, and experience
• Experience in short form digital production (photo and video) – shoot, edit • Creative, Teamwork and Time management skills • Understanding of social media trend and audience • Ability to work under tight deadlines • Solid communication skills, Excellent both written and verbal in Burmese • Ability to address production problems and solve them within time and budget • Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain high performance under pressure
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience
• Skills of infographic tools and design • Understanding of communication for development • Understanding the ethnicity and peace process in Myanmar • An awareness of BBC production quality and standards
